The Australian Labor government made a pre-election promise to join Germany in offering Indonesia a Debt2Health swap through the Global Fund. Australia pledged to cancel approximately AU$75 million of debt owed to it by Indonesia if the Indonesian Government invested half the amount into funds for programs to fight AIDS, TB and Malaria within their country.
