BOUGAINVILLE: LONG HAN BLUM YUMI
Tuesday Oct 9th, 2018 | 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Settle in for an exclusive film screening of āBougainville: Long Han Blum Yumiā. This critical film explores the impact that mining has on local communities in Bougainville. After losing 20,000 people in a brutal civil war where a copper mine was at the core of the conflict, local people set out to prove there are options other than mining on which Bougainvilleās future might be built. The film screening will be followed by refreshments and a Q&A Panel with Luke Fletcher, Executive Director ā Jubilee Australia and Dr Ruth Saovana-Spriggs from the Bougainville Peopleās Research Centre. The Q&A session will be facilitated by Professor Duncan McDuie-Ra, School of Social Sciences, UNSW Sydney.
