NATURAL RESOURCE GOVERNANCE IN PNG
Monday Aug 8th, 2022 | 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm
Join Us for a Unique Opportunity to Discuss Natural Resource Governance in PNG
In an area of biodiversity loss and climate change, PNG sits on Australia's doorstep as part of the third largest contiguous rainforest on the planet and a place of breathtaking natural endowment. In PNG itself, debates continue to rage about the best path to development for its people.
Along with experts on the topic, we will discuss questions like; How can development be pursued in a way that does not destroy the rich legacy bequeathed to its people?; What is the responsibility of state and corporate actors who are planning new projects in PNG?; Can Melanesian laws and practices inform approaches to protecting and preserving PNG's natural resource wealth?
The discussion will be followed by a Q and A.
