CHOPPING DOWN A TROPICAL RAINFOREST TO PLANT TREES? (2025)
This case study, the fourth in a series co-published with ACT NOW!, looks at logging activities under a Forest Clearing Authority (FCA) in Wanigela, Oro Province, PNG. It highlights concerns that the FCA, originally intended for agricultural development, is being used to support large-scale native forest logging. Despite local opposition and a temporary halt, logging has continued, raising questions about legal compliance, environmental impacts, and community consent.
