Update report on the Mengen Integrated Agriculture Project in East New Britain Province.
Our new analysis shows that selective logging operations in the Mengen FCA continued for more than a year after the ACT NOW! report was published in 2023.Despite nearly four years of intensive logging operations which ended sometime in early 2025, there is no evidence of any forest clearance for the establishment of agriculture projects or tree planting. Instead, the logging company seems to have withdrawn from the area after completing a large-scale selective logging operation in breach of the terms and conditions of its FCA licence.
