Kanchana Wiset joined Jubilee Australia in January 2023 as a Research and Policy Specialist. Her experience includes urban and environmental planning community projects and community-based natural resources and environmental management projects with government agencies and non-governmental organisations in Thailand. Kanchana has also coordinated and managed many capacity development programs on community forestry, forests and climate change, REDD+ and climate change mitigation and adaptation in the agriculture sector for international organisations such as RECOCFTC – The Center for People and Forests, and FAO. Her research expertise focuses on community engagement in forest landscape restoration. She holds a Bachelor of Arts with First Class Honors in Geography and a Master of Urban and Regional Planning from Thailand. She also has a Master of Science in Nature Conservation & Biodiversity Management, funded by the Netherlands Fellowship Program. In 2022, she was awarded a Doctoral degree in forestry studies from the University of the Sunshine Coast, Australia.
